EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE

Our 28-day service is designed to work alongside young people facing who have come to face extreme challenges and hardships. We understand how these hardships can impact a young persons mental health and/or social functioning. When working with us at Muddy Steps, we create a safe, empowering space where young people can explore their lived experiences reflectively whilst building resilience, self-awareness, and develop lasting coping strategies. With compassion and professional care, we aim to guide our young people toward a sense of purpose, and readiness for adulthood.

HOW WE WORK

Our mission here is not just provide a short term skill set, but to ensure that these newly learned skills become embedded within the young persons long term coping mechanism where appropriate.  This will ensure a reduction in future disconnectedness for the young person, whilst building a strong sense of self actualisation, positive self esteem and awareness, and building a healthy sense of belonging.

The purpose of providing these new tools is so that young people feel safer within their own future management should a crisis re-occur, whilst recognising a network of safety that works for them. This enables young people to regain control of their future, with the skillset needed to transition to young adults safely, confidently and with a sense of purpose..

A non-invasive, comprehensive Mental health and Social care assessment will be undertaken with the young person by qualified social care and mental health professionals, whilst they remain with Muddy Steps LTD. The collective outcome of this assessment would be to produce a long term person centered, holistic care and safety plan that truly reflects the young persons needs, wishes, feelings and personal goals for their future. This would also highlight any appropriate signposting, advice, and guidance to allow young adolescents to begin their future journey.

This assessment is broken down by using a range of tools such as the Positive Behaviour Support  PERMA model (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment), alongside systemic relational approaches which include CBT and DBT informed talking therapies. Any tool applied is specifically chosen to gain the views of the young person in the most meaningful, appropriate and proportionate way. Each plan is tailor made to that the young person remains the golden thread throughout each important segment of a young persons emotional, physical and social building block.
